Assignment # 1
Email at least one student in the class. Ask that student
to email you back, and then add that person to your addressbook.
Also email Prof. Jordan at abogado@pacbell.net, and add him to
your addressbook also.
Assignment # 2
Today you will set up your webpage. go to http://www.freeservers.com,
then use your firstnamelastname as your website location. Once
you set up your website then use the web builder and start to
create your own webpage. We will add links and information from
every class to your webpage from the "lessons", "skills",
and "discussions" part of the Upward Bound Webpage.
By the end of the last class your website will reflect the work
you have completed in the class.
Assignment # 3
Today you will download a simple "html editor".
This will allow you to edit your webpage. You will also download
the FTP or File Transfer Program. This Program will allow you
to make changes to your webpage. By the end of the last class
you should be able to easily add information to your webpage,
such as a resume, cover letter to employers, and useful links
and information.
Assignment # 4
Today you will look at yourself. What makes you "tick".
You will take the Keirsey test to learn your personality type
and what "role" you fit into. This will help you look
for a career that "fits you", instead of "fitting
you" into some career or job that is not really suited for
your skills and talents. Remember, to the extent you can find
a job or career that reflects "who you are", you will
be "happy and successful".
Assignment # 5
Today you will choose your career, and find your perfect or "dream
job". You will identify your skills.
Assignment # 6
Reading and Writing are the most important skills needed to succeed
in the workplace. Today you will look at information and resources
on reading, writing, and language skills, then you will write
about your philosophy of life, and then critique another students
writing. This feedback will help you and the other students achieve
better writing and reading skills. YOU can never stop learning
how to "read and write" better.
Assignment # 7
Education is probably the most important activity in your future.
Today you will select the college and program "best suited"
for you.
Assignment # 8
Today you will look at ten (10) steps to plan your future, and
you will plan your future.
Assignment # 9
Finally, today, in our last class, you will see what you are
made of. You will review information and resources on your personal
ethics and character, and you will decide upon your "guiding"
set of principles, ethics and character which will ensure your
own "personal success and happiness". Good luck.
